Sat-Mon, Sep 3-5: Labor Day Weekend
Enjoy this long weekend and the last days of summer!
Bring your bikes and enjoy beautiful Vermont scenery.
Cycling is the weekend's main activity, but it's a theme, not a formal agenda. You can also hike, explore the town and its shops, have a leisurely lunch in Waitsfield or Warren, see what your favorite ski runs look like in summer, or just relax – all pastimes are welcome! And we'll be sure to visit the Mad River Valley Craft Fair.
Vitaly and Azita will lead groups of road cyclists. Bring the bike of your choice (road, hybrid, mountain) or rent one locally (rental shop information is provided below -- check ahead, as their quantity and selection may be limited). The route, distance, and type of biking will be up to self-organized groups. We'll provide cue-sheets for road options, with various amounts of mileage and vertical. Tentatively, these will include:
- A longer day in the saddle covering 60-80 miles and several major Vermont gaps (5,000-7,000 feet of climbing)
- A shorter option of 30+/- miles without major climbs (though keep in mind there is nothing really “flat” in VT)
- An easy loop suitable for hybrids or leisure bikes (around 15 miles)
- As for our photo above, if someone has a mountain bike route in mind, let us know – we’ll gladly add it to the mix.
